My counselling approach is pluralistic, which means that I use a mix of different psychological approaches, dependent on what makes sense to you the client, and the issue you want to explore. The therapy sessions are led by you and the material you are exploring, so you set the goal, and you agree on any tasks that will help you get closer to that goal. I know the psychological landscape, and I'll be helping you explore the issues, gain insight, and achieve healing, or whatever that goal is.
I have a particular interests in PTSD, and also the impact that narcissistic personalities have on those around them, having experienced PTSD for many years in my previous career and having endured a few narcissists. I enjoy helping people navigate their mental health and find the balance they have lost, or often never had.
My own life experience includes a 30-year career in the police, which has left me with a strong desire to help members of the emergency services, be they serving or retired. I have a deep respect for those who choose to serve.
Professionally, I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, have a Level VI qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and have been counselling for four years.
I would highly recommend counselling, be it with me, or someone else. Having a space that is yours, where you are the important person, where you get to talk your stuff out, is just wonderful. You don't get that anywhere else in life.
